On our next 75th Anniversary stop, we’re talking heat trace! Since 1972, BriskHeat has been a leading provider of heating cable solutions, offering a range of products to combat heat loss and ensure optimal temperatures in various industrial applications.

The Challenge: Heat Loss

Prior to the widespread adoption of heating cable solutions, industrial facilities grappled with the issue of heat loss in uninsulated or inadequately insulated pipes and equipment. This resulted in several challenges like:

  • Frozen Pipes: In cold weather conditions, unheated pipes were susceptible to freezing, leading to pipe bursts and costly repairs. This could cause significant downtime for production processes.
  • Increased Fluid Viscosity: Decreased pipe temperatures can cause a rise in fluid viscosity. This can negatively impact flow rates and reduce the efficiency of processes that rely on the movement of fluids, such as chemical reactions or oil transportation.
  • Uncontrolled Process Temperatures: Maintaining consistent temperatures within a specific range is crucial for many industrial applications. Deviations from this range can lead to product defects or safety hazards.

The BriskHeat Solution

With the launch of their heating cable in 1972, BriskHeat continued their path as a pioneer in the field of industrial temperature control. Their two cable lines, Constant Wattage and Self-regulating, offered reliable solutions for maintaining consistent temperatures in pipes and other industrial equipment.

  • Constant Wattage: delivered a steady and predictable heat output per linear foot, regardless of ambient temperature fluctuations. Imagine them as the unsung heroes of high temperature processes, ensuring everything ran smoothly even in harsh environments.

These cables were particularly well-suited for applications requiring precise temperature control over extended periods. They found use in maintaining optimal temperatures in steam lines, heavy oil pipelines and more.
  • Self-Regulating: These cables incorporate a unique design that automatically adjusts heat output based on the surrounding temperature. As the pipe temperature rises, the cable reduces its power output, preventing overheating.

Self-regulating cables proved ideal for freeze protection and low-temperature process maintenance due to their inherent safety features and user-friendly design.
